onyxcard Prepaid MasterCard is a Chip and PIN card and is very safe.

Your Personal Identification Number (PIN)

Every time you use your onyxcard Prepaid MasterCard® to withdraw money from an ATM you will need your four-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN). You will also be asked to enter your PIN when you use your card to pay for goods or services–instead of signing a paper receipt to confirm your payment.

Your onyxcard is accepted like a normal bank debit or credit card but with no credit and no overdraft. You can only spend what you have put onto your onyxcard, helping you stay debt-free, with no risk of creating a poor credit history.

Lost or stolen cards

If you lose your onyxcard or it gets stolen you can block your card immediately by calling our lost and stolen line to prevent anyone from using your card.

Change your PIN

You can always change your PIN to something more memorable. In this way you will never forget your PIN again.

To change your PIN follow these steps:

  • Insert your onyxcard into any cash point displaying the MasterCard Acceptance Mark
  • Follow the on screen instructions and insert your PIN
  • From the on screen menu select the option to ‘Change Your PIN’ or ‘PIN Services’
  • Follow the on screen instructions to change your PIN
  • You will receive an onscreen confirmation that your PIN has been changed

We recommend that you don’t choose a simple number that can easily be guessed when changing your PIN (like 1234 or your date of birth). Do not keep a written copy of your PIN with your card and do not reveal your PIN to anyone!

Online account security

When you become an onyxcard customer we invite you to the Members’ Area and you will be given access to our online banking service.

Secure online banking

To log into your online banking account you will need your username, password and also the answer to one of the security questions you were asked when completing the application process. You can always change your password simply by logging into your account.

Once logged into your account you can activate your card, check your balance, review and print your statements and transactions at any time, transfer money from your account, pay bills and much more.
